YouTube’s announcement to stop monetizing some prank videos, including pornographic content and language
San Francisco: YouTube has issued new tasks tightening the YouTube monetization process, particularly for Publishers and advertisers on its app. In light of new policies and guidelines, it has announced to stop monetization of videos with certain topics which may be implemented immediately. The official announcement of this can be seen here which was released a few days ago.
These include the following changes:
Mature (obscene) content and language
Inappropriate image, language and any links included in the video thumbnail will also not earn monetization.
Violence and beatings
Videos of dead bodies without context, or video game violence experiments on real people, videos of the time of death will not generate revenue either. Similarly, videos that surprise viewers by showing violent incidents will no longer be able to earn money.
Dangerous and harmful actions or challenges
YouTube and Tik Tok in particular has a negative reputation for stupid and dangerous antics, challenges and videos and such videos will not monetize on YouTube. Some of these challenges can be life-threatening, especially for children, and this is why daring online trends are discouraged.
Inappropriate language
YouTube has decided to discourage inappropriate and foul language. Although words like ‘hell or hell’ and ‘dam or damnation’ are not banned, abusive and obscene words will be announced in advance. Although in this YouTube has put some strange conditions i.e. if there is an inappropriate word after the first 8 seconds of the video, it will be able to earn money, but the wrong and inappropriate word in the first eight seconds will not get a single penny. Here, YouTube has not specified any specific word types.
Drugs in video
Showing, mentioning banned drugs and narcotics in a generic video or game-related video can now cost you money.
A show of dishonesty
The new ban aims to prevent certain types of prank videos. In the United States, some videos impersonate or impersonate store and store employees. Now doing so without the permission of the owner of the place will not monetize the video. Similarly, the use and mention of cheats or hacking software in gaming is also included in the same ban.
