Virat Kohli teamed up with Rishp Pont for a crucial 50-run stand off 38 balls. Pont fell victim to Shadab Khan after scoring 39 off 30 balls, while Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for 13. Hardik Pandya scored only 11 runs. Captain Virat Kohli showed responsibility and completed a half century off 45 balls but Shaheen sent him back to the pavilion for 57 runs. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi took three wickets, Hassan Ali two, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan one.
